David Modrý

Prof. MVDr. David Modrý, Ph.D.

A veterinary parasitologist. In 2011, he was appointed professor of the field of infectious diseases at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Veterinary and Pharmaceutical University of Brno, until recently he was the head of the Institute of Pathological Morphology and Parasitology. He has been working for a long time as a researcher at the Institute of Parasitology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in České Budějovice and currently as a professor at Masaryk University and the Department of Veterinary Disciplines and the CINeZ Animal Infectious Diseases Center of the Czech University of Life Sciences. For a long time, he has been researching infectious diseases shared between pets and pets, wild animals and humans. The main areas of interest include both "domestic" topics, such as tick-borne infections of carnivores and domestic ungulates and carnivore helminthiasis, as well as work on "exotic" models, such as mainly African apes, elephants, cetaceans and reptiles. In addition to teaching parasitology and research and diagnostic work in the field of infectious diseases, he deals with the issue of development projects with veterinary topics in tropical countries, including in the position of director of the public benefit society Veterináři bez hranic ČR and member of the broader management of Vétérinaires sans Frontières International.
