Ralf Mueller

Prof. Ralf S. Mueller studied veterinary science at the University of Munich, where he completed his doctoral thesis in 1987. He worked in several large and small animal practices before completing his veterinary dermatology residency at the University of California (Davis). In 1992, he moved to Melbourne, where he and his partner and wife, Dr. Sonya Bettenay created Australia's first dedicated dermatology practice. During that time, Dr. Mueller was concurrently teaching at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (University of Sydney). Ralf and Sonya founded (and continue to lead) a distance learning program in veterinary dermatology = Center for Veterinary Education at the University of Sydney. In 1999, Ralf became an assistant professor in veterinary dermatology at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (Colorado State University). In 2004, he accepted the position of head of veterinary dermatology at the University of Munich. The main research interest is allergies and ectoparasites. He has published over 250 studies, articles, book chapters, and books, and has given more than twelve hundred seminars, lectures, and talks worldwide.
